About Me
My first job was selling Liberty magazines door to door and on the street. I worked weekends gardening at the High School. Other jobs I can recall involved throwing the LA Times newspaper at houses from my rattletrap model A. First job out of HS was riveting Hudson bombers and P-38's together at Lockheed. Southern Cal gas company had me driving a motor route to their urban offices daily. Quit that to enter LACC's super school of the theatre. My draft board wouldn't hear of that, so requested I join the Army, which I did. I figured the war couldn't last long, since I had never held a job for more than three months. It lasted three more years. The Army threw me out in Feb '46 and I enrolled at Ucla as an engineering student. Too hard. Changed majors to a less demanding routine. Survived on part time jobs as gasoline jock, machinist, bakery gopher, coca cola box stacker, filling station owner, temporary 6th grade teacher. dude ranch dude, then back to Ucla to complete my education. Finished education, taught school for a while longer, and took a job as film script writer at Convair for ten years. DOD offered me a job as training film producer, and that's where I stayed until retirement. Actually, I believe I have worked harder since I retired than ever before. |
Producer of info movies. Freelance Writer.
